There are four basic neighborhoods in Downey: Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest.
I grew up in Northeast Downey.
There are lots of great neighborhoods to choose from. Some people desire to live in the Northeast area of town where there are many mini-mansion type homes along with ranch-style homes with double wide lots that are over 8,000 square feet.
Downey is home to the Historical McDonald’s restaurant located in Northeast Downey.
The original Golden arches and 60-foot animated neon sign “Speedee” is still open and on the corner of Lakewood and Florence. No drive-through at this location in town.
