The Huntington Beach Pier is located at Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street. It is one of the main landmarks in the city. It is a popular place for volleyball players, swimmers and surfers. I noticed that the ocean waves are larger at the pier than on other parts of the beach. The great weather in Southern California, allows surfers to catch waves year-round.
The U.S. Open of Surfing is held on the south side of the pier every summer. Top surfers from around the world compete here every summer. It is sponsored by Vans and other corporate companies. Thousands of people come to the beach to watch the free surfing event. The Surfing Walk of Fame has plaques embedded into the sidewalk, while the Surfers’ Hall of Fame has hand prints.
Lots of great food on the pier too…like Dukes Huntington Beach or Sandy’s Grill on the sand. Both restaurants are at the beginning of the pier off Pacific Coast Highway.
