Seal Beach is just south of Long Beach in Orange County, California. The city is a charming cozy area at the beach. Great for walks along the board walk south of the pier or down Main Street for shopping and food. There are over 24,000 people who live in Seal Beach. The city which was incorporated in 1915. About 2 miles inland in Seal Beach is Leisure World, a gated retirement community. The city is home to the US Navy's Naval Weapons Station, which was in charge of storing ammunition for US Navy warships. The small gated community of Surfside Colony is south of the Naval Station is also part of Seal Beach. The Colony has it's own US Post Office and over 200 beach side homes. It is located just south of a popular neighborhood in Huntington Beach called Huntington Harbor.

Take a stroll to the beach or on the Seal Beach Pier (Map). The pier is the 2nd longest pier in California. It can be used for fishing and sightseeing. Ruby's Restaurant is at the end of the pier so you can dine and enjoy the ocean views. Surfing can be enjoyed along the north side of the pier year round. The Red Car was a part of a mass transit system that used streetcars, light rail and buses.
